Castlerahan u17’s
The Castlerahan u17 team played their first challenge game on the June bank holiday Monday morning away to Belturbet. After a slow start, Castlerahan dominated allot of the possession. Jason O’Gorman found the net in the 2nd half from a well worked move. Despite owing the ball in the 2nd half, Castlerahan couldn’t find the back of the Belturbet net again after allot of good chances were created with the posts being tested numerous times and the ball cleared of the line on many occasion by the Belturbet defenders. It was a great work out and every player put in a great shift. Scoreline: Belturbet 2-8 to Castlerahan 1-7.
Divison 4 Round 1
The Castlerahan u17 team played their first league game on Thursday June 10th at home to St Finbars. Castlerahan got off to a great start but 2 St. Finbars goals meant the half time score was Catlerahan 0-7 to St Finbars 2-2. The second half was a another close encounter. Mid way through the second half, the game was level when St. Finbars were awarded a penalty which they scored and Castlerahan had a player sent to the sin bin. Things did not look good at this point but the Castlerahan lads dug deep and played their best football of the match to go 5 points up with a Jason O’Gorman goal among the scores. St. Finbars got a late goal but the lads hung on for a well deserved win. Scoreline: Castlerahan 1.14 to 4.3 St. Finbars.
